This is a piece I did earlier this year and was based on  a photo from one of my favorite cities, Charleston, SC.  In the spring, I'm planning to meet with a girlfriend from California and introduce her to this quintessential southern city.  So California girl meets the south.  Her name is Julie Hill and is a fellow daily painter.  We connected through our blogs and over the last 6 months have become good friends.  We've never met in person but talk several times a day, so this will be the first time we actually met.  Let's hope she can survive the humidity, southern accents and grits.  Looking forward to it!

What a beautiful giant oak in Charleston.  It's such a graceful tree and was fun painting it with a palette knife.  Using the knife allows the gentle suggestion of the moss hanging from the tree.  It looks like the perfect location to spread a blanket, grab a book and enjoy the afternoon.

 This is a favorite haunt of mine, Charleston,SC.  Visited many times but never took a horse drawn carriage tour but somehow every group of photos that I come home with, there seems to be at least one carriage photo among them.  Love strolling Charleston's cobblestone streets, feeling the coastal breeze, shopping & eating at the many fabulous restaurants featuring something with "grits".  It's a southern thing, I know.  You might think you have seen this painting before.  You have.  I posted a few months ago but it wasn't for sale until now. You will also notice I have figured out the stupid button thing.  All you have to do is click on the "buy now" button & off you go.
