In Motion

"Pebble Beach"
6x6   Oil on museum quality panel
Commission - SOLD

As they say in life, timing is everything.   With my last painting, I talked about wanting to bring some movement into my paintings.  I wasn't happy with the last piece...it felt forced.  Then as luck would have it, I received a commission to paint this golfer.   Lucky for me his wife, is a fabulous photographer, Jennings King.  While I've never met her, I was commissioned a couple of years ago to do a painting as a wedding gift for her.  Small world. What a fun commission (can't always say that) and the painting practically flew off the brush.   Good day at the easel!

Finding a Lost Friend

"Oranges & Balsamic Vinegar"
8x10  Oil on Linen

I recently moved my studio back home & while unpacking I found a favorite prop, the vinegar bottle.  I hosted a couple of workshops many years ago for a fabulous artist, Kate Worm.  This was her prop and I guess my enthusiasm for this little black bottle prompted her to give it to me.   I fondly think of Kate everytime I see it & I'm thrilled to be taking a workshop with Kate in February.  I haven't been able to attend any workshops in the past several years, so I'm so pumped to be inspired & pick up a few juicy tidbits from Kate.

Night Owl Issues

"Up Early"
8x8  Oil on museum quality panel
$325

I'm definitely a night owl who needs her 7-8 hours of sleep to function like a semi-coherent person.  This makes it difficult to be up to see the beautiful morning light.  If I could only convince the universe to add 2 hours between my bedtime & the morning light, I could have my cake and eat it too!

Is It Too Early for Baseball? SOLD

"Cracker Jacks, Anyone?
6x6  Oil on Canvas
SOLD

Growing up in a house where your brother & mother are avid sports fans, this "girlie" girl had no choice but to choose a sport to be interested in.   So baseball was it & the Atlanta Braves were the team.  Thankfully, I have a nephew who also plays & loves baseball.  Over the holidays, I painted him a baseball and thus the inspiration for a new series was born.  I'm not sure why I thought painting a box of Cracker Jacks would be the place to start but here it is.  I keep hoping each season that the Braves will channel their success from the early nineties.  Until then, I hope you will enjoy the series.

Back in the Saddle

"Streaming Light"
12x24 Oil on Canvas

After almost 2 months of not painting, I'm back at the easel.  While I don't quiet feel in the groove, at least I've got brush in hand.  I have to thank my good friend, Julie Hill, for encouraging, badgering, prompting & down right threatening  me back to the easel.  Everyone needs a Julie in their life!
More to come, stay tuned.  Here's to a great and inspirational 2012!
